My Philosophy
It is my goal to help students foster artistic and academic excellence through the study of ballroom dance. I want to provide students with a creative and stimulating environment where they can thrive. I value engaged teaching, which promotes dance as an artistic expression that has the power to enrich and transform the lives of the participants.
Perhaps my favorite part of being an instructor is having the opportunity to help students reach their highest dancing potential. It is essential to a students progress to study the fundamental basics of movement and technique. I have seen the exciting growth that takes place when a student has spent the time and effort necessary for improvement.
Music, life and creativity are my inspirations for choreography. Music taps into the creative soul and makes us move. Life will take its toll on each of us, but its beauty and ability to inspire us to create will never end. I am constantly reminded. “There is no limit to choreography…. It is endless.” —Caroline Prohosky
It is an absolute joy for me as an artistic director to fuse music, dancers and choreography to create formation work that has the power to emotionally captivate an audience. Each time I begin the process of creating formation choreography it becomes an exciting challenge to use the elements of rhythm, spacing, contrast and dynamics to create something new and inspiring.
